Configure a New Account in cPanel

This documentation details configuring a new account in cPanel.

Access cPanel

  1. Log into WHM.
  2. Click Account Information.
  3. Click List Accounts.
  4. Using the Search For field at the top of the screen, search for the account you want to access.
  5. Click the orange cP icon in the cPanel column to access the account.

cPanel Configuration

When you first access cPanel after creating a new account the Getting Started Wizard will appear, simply check the Do not show this again box and click the No, I’m Fine. Thanks! button to dismiss it.


Click on the Email section title, hold and drag the section to the top of the screen above all other sections. Do the same for the Databases and Domains sections. The final order should be Email, Databases, and Domains. The order of the other sections doesn’t matter.

Enable Apache SpamAssassin

This will help reduce the amount of email spam a client receives.

  1. Click Apache SpamAssassin in the Email section.
  2. Click the Enable Apache SpamAssassin button.
  3. Click the Home button at the top-left.

Website Optimization

This will improve the performance of the client’s website by compressing most text files.

  1. Click Optimize Website in the Software section.
  2. Select Compress the specified MIME types.
  3. Clear out the MIME Types field and paste in:

text/plain text/html text/css text/xml text/javascript application/javascript

  1. Click the Update Settings button.
  2. Click the Home button at the top-left.
